EA Case Study: Model S (Charging Port)

A Tesla Model S wouldn’t open its charging port door.  This is a simple but serious problem. It prohibits the car from connecting to an offboard source of power.  Upon diagnosis the charge port door sensor was found misaligned and damaged, requiring replacement. However this turned out to be only half the problem: the main port assembly was the root cause due to rusting on the door release mechanism. Cleaning did not work and the port itself also required replacement.  Taking the time to do a thorough diagnostic is part of our service model leading to repairs that last and inherently save time and money for drivers.

The Fix: Factory new Tesla Charge Port – North American Charging Standard (NACS) 1005612-00-K and Tesla Charge Port Door, Non Motorized 1007189-00-D.
