Another blog provides our up-to-date guidance on replacing Prius high voltage batteries:

This applies to all Prius high voltage batteries (also known as “hybrid batteries” or “traction batteries”), for all generations: gen’s one, two, three, four, and current, as well as other Toyota hybrids.
But how much does a high voltage battery cost? This blog will help answer that question.
The short answer? It varies. That’s because we buy the parts from Toyota, and Toyota changes the prices of their parts all the time. This is true for all parts, not just hybrid ones.
In early 2025 Toyota bumped the price of the standard gen 2 Prius HV battery by nearly 50%, from the mid $2,000s to the mid $3,000s. This was an unusually high price bump, a potential signal that Toyota was no longer subsidizing the price of replacements for Gen 2 models, effectively giving up their support for that platform.
Our friends over at Art’s Automotive, across the bay in Berkeley, wrote a comprehensive article about this situation when it occurred:
Since then the price of the batteries came back down to normal, and the repair costs are back to their historical level (typically low-to-mid $3000s installed).
Earthling never got an explanation as to why the price jumped so much for a few weeks.
Anytime prices jump like this, the cost of repairs threatens to prohibit a customer from repairing their car and keeping it on the road. At the time Earthling began seeking alternatives, including sourcing modules to build packs from other Toyota hybrids. (Essentially buying other kinds of packs and then harvesting pieces from those packs to make a cheaper one for the Gen 2.)
Earthling is committed to offering the lowest possible pricing in order to encourage repairs on vehicles (hybrids but namely Toyota Prius hybrids) which we believe to be exceptionally practical cars worthy of investment in order to serve their owners for many years to come.
